Jamal is an Associate at Gardiner Roberts LLP practicing with the firm’s litigation group. He is a bold advocate and trusted advisor who regularly advises clients on a variety of commercial and insurance disputes, including transportation, commercial and contract disputes, products liability, professional negligence, privacy and cybersecurity, and regulatory matters.
Prior to joining Gardiner Roberts LLP, Jamal worked for a prominent insurance firm, where he practiced in the areas of civil litigation with a focus on personal injury and motor vehicle claims, as well as trip and falls, tavern liability, product liability, assault cases, and subrogated claims. He maintains this practice and represents a variety of clients and insurers across the transportation, aviation, and marine sectors on complex maritime accidents, commercial vehicle and vessel collisions, and other transportation-related incidents.
His approach to litigation is pragmatic and cooperative. He focuses on providing timely, measured, and cost-effective results and strives to consistently develop cohesive strategies that meet his clients’ needs.
He has successfully represented his clients at various levels of Court and Administrative Tribunals including the Federal Court, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal, Licence Appeal Tribunal, Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal, and Small Claims Court, as well as at numerous private arbitrations.
Jamal also takes an interest in legal research and writing whose works have been published in a number of publications, including the Toronto Law Journal and Mondaq Canada Publications.
Jamal graduated cum laude from the University of Ottawa, Faculty of Law in 2019. During law school, Jamal was competitively selected as a Teaching Assistant for the Faculty’s Dispute Resolution Practicum. He was awarded the Rick Weiler Prize for Effective Lawyer-Client Relations and Teamwork in Mediation. Jamal also holds an Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences from the University of Western Ontario.
He is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Toronto Lawyers’ Association, The Advocates’ Society and Canadian Defence Lawyers.
In his spare time, Jamal is a loyal Toronto sports fan, enjoys traveling, enjoys exploring coffee shops in the city, and takes a keen interest in vintage watch collection and restoration.
