The goal of our Articling Program is to teach articling students how to become good lawyers. You will be teamed with lawyers and exposed to a wide variety of situations - including client meetings, corporate commercial transactions, the drafting of legal documents and attending on motions, trials and administrative proceedings.
We will also attempt to accommodate any students who develop a keen interest in any particular area of law. Because our firm is mid-sized, you’ll quickly become part of the team, connecting with dedicated mentors and gaining valuable insights from seminars, training courses and numerous on and off-site opportunities designed to help you connect with your real-life goals. Twice a year, you’ll receive evaluations and valuable feedback to assess your progress and highlight your strengths - discussed on a one-by-one basis.
Typically, articling students will rotate through three broad practice areas, spending 2.5 months in each of Dispute Resolution (civil/commercial litigation, insurance/health/employment law) and Real Estate/Tax (real estate and municipal, tax and estate planning) and 5 months in Corporate/Commercial (business practices, immigration law, technology and intellectual property, financial services, entertainment law, securities, municipal law, non-profit and charities law).
Discover law from the inside out and gain the advantage of working in a collaborative environment, with access to sophisticated resources and regular contact with both associates and partners intent on providing you with a rewarding experience. Add to this, an open invitation to practice group luncheons and social functions - you’ll savour the perspective of real-life law and come to understand our proven recipe for client satisfaction that has built our reputation for excellence in legal circles for over a century.
